How Can I Look Up Somebody’s Criminal Background

In many aspects of business and even some personal matters, it is important for people to conduct a background check on some of the people that they will be transacting with. Of course, this can become a very personal and sensitive matter. It’s not very comfortable to know that someone is doing a background check on you just to see if you are legitimate. However it is one’s right to do so if the occasion calls for it.
Criminal background checks are not infallible. There are many different reasons for a check to be incorrect, whether with wrong information or the lack of information. For a couple of examples; if you have been the victim of identity left, and the person who was using your name committed crimes - guess what? You now have a record, until you can get it cleared. If you commit a recent crime, the infraction may take months to show up and be reported nationally. Sometimes it gets lost in the system and never gets reported. An employee background check involves verification of a new employee, to be appointed soon in a company. Especially, this investigation may involve for candidates who are being posted for credential and confidential positions. This may involve tracking the previous career record of a person, as well his personal traits, to ensure that there is no fraudulent activities been traced earlier. Employee verification will also include educational investigation to confirm the originality of the curriculum vitae submitted by the employee and character investigation to make sure that there will not be any issues being evolved out of the particular person. There is a special Act called the Fair Credit Reporting Act which has set the norms for the background investigation of an employee. This is mostly based on the consumer report and tracks the person completely.
Remember the courts are looking for whether or not an employer conducted a “reasonable” amount due diligence of as it relates to their background checks. Of course the word reasonable is always subject to legal interpretation. However, I would rather go into court knowing that as a company, I employed a methodical approach to conducting a criminal background check while maintaining fiscal responsibility, instead of skipping a step to save $17.60 for a Federal Criminal search.
